Founded in February 2008, the IBRG’s aim is to encourage exchanges and collaborations amongst its members in order to stimulate and deepen the level of knowledge of the complex and multidisciplinary field of globalization.

The shift towards globalization has become more pronounced since World War II, and even more so since the early 90s with the collapse of the Soviet bloc, leading to upheavals in the economic and social environment that we live in. It has also created upheavals in many business management practices of all sizes. The effects of such upheavals reverberate well beyond the borders insofar as they affect businesses operating outside Quebec and Canada and are not confined to the economic environment and the business world. It is with such issues in mind that the IBRG was created, to gain a better understanding of their causes, effects and implications for businesses, governments and civil society.

The IBRG’s aim is to encourage exchanges and collaborations amongst its members (regular members, associate members and students) who work on issues of common interest, but often with different approaches and perspectives, in order to stimulate and deepen the level of knowledge of the complex and multidisciplinary field of globalization. The IBRG also helps to strengthen HEC Montréal’s position in this field of study, both locally and internationally.
