The International Business Research Group (GRAI), is pleased to invite you to a conference given by Dr. Pierre-Alexandre Balland from 11 :00 am to 12 :30 pm on Friday April 27th, 2018 (Salle Société canadienne des postes, first floor CSC Building).

Dr. Balland is an assistant professor of economic geography at Utrecht University and visiting professor at the MIT Media Lab. His research focuses on the sustainable urban development and aims to develop strategic diagnostic tools balancing economic growth and quality of life in the cities.

In the presentation, he will discuss the relationship between the complexity of urban economic activities and the tendency of spatial concentration in megacities. Furthermore, he will provide policy insights on how economic complexity reshapes the coordination costs in urban management by studying historical patent documents over 3 centuries.
