The International Business Research Group (IBRG) is pleased to invite you to a presentation given by social entrepreneur Hélène Cyr,  on Thursday, September 7th from 12:00 to 1:15 pm (Salle Marie-Husny – 1st floor): From VP Bombardier to social entrepreneur in Rwanda: Passionate of challenges but faithful to one’s convictions. Ms. Cyr will be presented at HEC Montréal following an invitation from Jahan-Ara Peerally for a special activity to compare theory with practice (*** Note that this is not a presentation on research but a discussion on development in Africa ***).

Having served as former Vice President of Bombardier Transportation, Hélène Cyr has dedicated her energies to social and economic development in Africa, particularly in Rwanda, especially through her company Mentoring Africa. Over the past 8 years, she engaged in consultancy to support Rwanda’s economic development, serving as a strategic advisor to the Rwanda Development Board. She also supports several international NGOs in job creation among African youth, and has personally created two technical and secondary schools to help young people get access to education and technical skills in order to achieve self-sufficiency.

During her presentation, Ms Cyr will share with us her journey and her reflections on economic development in Africa from the perspetive of social entrepreneur. A discussion on development in Africa and the role of social entrepreneurs in building African institutions will follow.
